CLOTHING CARE CLOSET at SENTARA LEIGH HOSPITAL

The Clothing Care Closet encourages individual responsibility for our community through maintaining the Clothing Care Closet.  Check the calendar below to see when your troop can help.

CLOTHING CARE CLOSET GUIDELINES

  • LOCATION:   830 Kempsville Rd., Norfolk, VA 23502
  • CONTACT VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR BY EMAIL, current Volunteer Coordinator Veronica Burnet at [email protected] to coordinate a day and time your troop can go into the hospital. The phone number is 757-261-8086. When you contact her, ask if there are any specific clothing items needed; sometimes the closet becomes full and only needs your troop to organize and fold the clothes already in the closet.
  • COLLECTION IDEAS: Troops can hold a clothing drive for the specified clothing needed by posting to the Service Unit Leader’s Facebook page, contacting friends and family or starting an Amazon wish list. The girls can also vote to use a few dollars from their troop funds to buy items such as new socks and underwear which is always appreciated.
  • VOLUNTEERS -  ONLY CADETTES, SENIORS AND AMBASSADORS are allowed to volunteer at the hospital. No more than 6 people (2 adults and 4 girls) are allowed to volunteer in the clothing closet at one time. Once your troop signs up you will go once during the allotted quarter. The quarters are  January, April, July and October. However, if more girls in your troop would like to volunteer, please sign up your troop for more than one quarter. Girls can also organize their donated clothes at meetings. Any girls that donated, helped organize at a meeting or hospital can receive the Care Closet patch. The patch is available for purchase through the Service Unit.
  • ORGANIZE CLOTHES by adhering to the labels along the edges of the shelving, the drawers and hangers.
  • THROW AWAY any clothes with stains or hole in the trash can in the room.  Their greatest need is usually mens’ clothes and new underwear and socks for men and women. Please do not donate any dress clothes (button up casual shirts are ok) or accessories such as shoes, belts or scarves.
  • FOLD as in the the diagrams below:
